Shoe-Fitting Service
RunnerBill’s Shoe Fitting Service may include all or some of the
following steps depending on your situation:
Analyze the wear pattern of your old shoes. We examine your
worn shoes for a wear pattern. This could indicate a need for a
different type of shoe and/or the addition of a supplemental insert
or it could verify that the shoe is a correct type for you.
Examine your foot-shape. We have you stand even-weighted with
feet shoulder-width apart and have you flex your knees forward. This
gives us an indication of what your feet might do when you run.
Examine your orthotics (if applicable). We will examine them
for wear and ensure that they fit in and work with the shoes you
select.
Discuss and consider any recent running related injuries.
Please let us know if you are injured or are seeing a doctor or
physical therapist for any exercise related injury or ailment. We
will take this into consideration for recommending types of shoes.
Discuss and consider your current running/ training as well as your
goals. Please let us know approximately how much running you do
on a weekly basis and what type of running you do (trails, roads,
treadmill, etc.) and if you are training for any upcoming events.
Please also let us know if you recently made any changes to your
training (such as adding hill repeats or speed intervals).
Offer shoes for try on. We will suggest types of shoes for
you to try on. Please let us know if you have any brand preference
because we will suggest the best models for you within the brand(s)
of your choice. It is best that you keep an open mind regarding
brands and know that there are many good and comparable brands. We
can suggest the appropriate model(s) of the brands we carry.
Watch you test run shoes down our center aisle. We will watch
you test run shoes down the center aisle of the store to see if
the shoes are working for you functionally.
Check the fit of your shoes for reasonableness. We will check
the fit of your shoes for “reasonableness” (there should be room to
allow for your feet to swell when you run but not so much room that
your feet slide around in them). Please note that it is your
ultimate responsibility to decide that shoes fit comfortably without
distraction (nothing hitting, pinching, slipping or sliding when you
run).
Please understand that this process can take a while and you need to
allow time for us to perform these steps at your comfort level and
before our closing times.
It also can be difficult to perform these services around
unsupervised children.
Our fitting area is a limited space. Your experience will be
optimized if the fitting area is occupied by only those persons
being fitted.
